Help Build A New Leash on Life!

We need to raise $500,000 to give the animals in our community a second chance. Purchase a Brick for $50.00 or $100.00 to show that you care. Visit our Campaign Page for more details.

Can you help Me - Owt?
My friends and I are friendly, loving cats with a simple request. What we wish for is a foster family to stay with until our next home becomes available.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to rescue abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats throughout Northern Ontario and ensure that every pet receives "A New Leash on Life".

Spaying and Neutering

The warmer season is a good time for the abandoned cats and dogs to have their litters.  We need to spay and neuter our pets to avoid the multiplying that is happening every year.   Keeping our pets indoors when they are not yet fixed will help to eliminate unwanted pregnancies.   Getting them spayed or neutered, will stop the problem altogether since they are no longer going into heat and will only want to stay close to home where they are most loved.
"Many people have learned through relating to animals what it is to care for and accept responsibility for another being." - Richard H. Pitcairn, American Veterinarian, Pet Nutritionist and Author

Foster Homes Needed

Spring is once again upon us and there are cries of new kittens needing attention. Having your cats spayed or neutered helps to avoid these babies being born in the wild. Many people are noticing these animals and some are bringing them into their homes with hopes of our taking them right away. In order for us to do so, we need more foster homes to help with the overflow of strays. If you can spare the space for one of these unfortunates please call 692-3319 and leave your name, phone number, and request to be a foster parent.

I have a stray.....

Strays, strays, and more strays.  We are asking if people could please call Pet Save and leave a message on our phone lines about any strays.  We cannot accept any cats or dogs without first making some prior arrangements.  They need to be properly processed and vaccinated first.  We have over 300 cats in the system now and we are in desperate need of foster homes.  We are all volunteers and we ask for your patience and to please wait for direct communications before bringing an animal to us at any of our locations.  Thank you.  All paws to you for your support.

Pet Save Thrift Store

Come out and visit our new thrift store at 23 Main St. in Chelmsford. With the help of many volunteers and public donations, we have created a lovely space for our thrift items to be sold. All items and store space are donated. The proceeds go toward vet bills, food, and litter. We are open from Wednesday to Sat 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Come and see what treasures you can find and help us give A New Leash on Life to the homeless cats and dogs in our community.

Northern Dogs rescued after owner dies in fire

Pet Save has received 7 dogs from Cochrane last week. Their owner died in a fire. He had approximately 100 dogs. The trauma of the fire, having water bombers overhead to put out the fire, and not having an owner to protect them has caused the dogs to suffer some trauma. A Northern rescue group contacted Pet Save and other groups in Northern and Central Ontario for placement of these dogs.   About 60 dogs have been removed thus far with plans to remove many more. These dogs were in no way neglected or abused. Their owner loved them.  It just got to be too many. These wonderful dogs need loving homes to care for them. They have been here in Sudbury approximately 1 week and we have seen a huge difference already. They love to receive affection and wag their tails as soon as you speak to them. Pet Save is looking for the community's support. If you can foster, adopt, or help by donating to cover the cost of spay/neutering, dewoming, defleaing, and getting their vaccination, please contact us. You can view these dogs under "Cochrane dogs" on our adoption page.

Litter Needed

Kitty cats, kitty cats galore! We have an abundance of stray and abandoned kittens and cats. We are in desperate need of clumping litter. We would be happy to accept your donation of litter at Kitty's at 1116 Kingsway and at our pet shelter at 58 Jacobson opposite of Tim Horton's in Lively.

Petsmart in December 2011.....

Come and see us for the month of Decembe up at PetSmart.  We will be there with our kittens and cats of many colours.   You will have a hard time choosing which baby will belong in your family they are so darn cute!  Our kittens cost $195 and adults starting at a year old are $170.  A great deal considering they come with a spay/neuter certificate, their first vaccination, flea and worm medication already done.  All you have to do is say yes or you can just come out and visit.  See you there…..We have so Many for adoption, come by and see us.... We are cute and love to cuddle, We just want a Home for Christmas....  Happy Holidays from All the Volunteers at Pet Save.

Adult Volunteers Needed

Pet Save is looking for adult volunteers. We need people for the day time. If you have 4 hours or more that you can spare, we sure could use your help. Please call 692-3319 leave your name, number, and day available. Thank you.

Come and Visit

We are always excited when people come out and visit us.  There is always so much happening.  These are the places where you can find our cats and dogs with the help of our wonderful volunteers.
Our Pet Save shelter is at 58 Jacobson in Walden.  Turn right, go over the train tracks, turn right at the first set of lights by Tim Horton's.  At the stop sign you will see a white house facing you.  Look to the left and you will see a very long driveway which comes up to a very large, light blue house, Pet Save Shelter.
We are also at Kitty's 1116 Kingsways in the little strip mall with the blue overhangs.  Across from Delux Drive-In.
Every second month, we are up at Petsmart in the adoption centre.  We will be there again in February.  We have kittens and adult cats looking their cutest so a family will take them home forever.  We will bring in a dog to show on the weekend.
We have other great friends who help out with adoptions by showing our kittens.  They are Pet Value at the four corners and Sue's Pet Depot at 900 Lasalle.  Sometimes Sue will have some puppies in her window area.
Thank you to ALL of our volunteers for making these animals their number one priority.

About the Website....

We are currently working on a new look for our website. This will give us a chance to update all the information this old website is not capable of doing. We hope the new site will be in working order in the next few weeks. Thank you for your support.

Calendars Are Here!!

Pet Save has rescued and saved many animals over the years.  It is a great concern that we still see so many strays on the street because they are not being spayed or neutered.  We have worked hard to get the message out.  People need to spay and neuter their animals to help keep them safe and to stop the kittens being born on the streets.  In our calendar, you can read some of the wonderful and sad stories about the life of a homeless cat or dog that has found their way to our shelter and hearts.

Help us to save a cat or dog from living on the streets by purchasing a calendar for $20.  Our calendars can be found at:  Kitty’s 1116 Kingsway, Pet Save shelter 58 Jacobson in Lively, Sue’s Pet Depot Lasalle Court, Pet Value stores, and Sun Wah Restaurant.  You can write to info@petsave.ca or call 692-3319.  Please leave your name and phone number.  All paws to you!
